Nice game. Played it couple of times and it feels 'addictive', so well done. The visuals and audio feel nice and retro.

I assume every run you have a different choice of ships with different weapons?

The Scatter Gun feels too underpowered, primarily because of the initial range. The Arc Generator feels a bit too overpowered because it's omnidirectional (at least the circles are). The Laser feels underpowered because of the extremely low firing rate. I think all weapons might need some balancing.

Do like that every weapon requires a different strategy btw :)

Also, can you implement skipping the start sequence? It becomes a bit old when you just quickly want to dive in there to shoot some more things :) Same goes for the slow counting of the stardust when you die.

Hey thanks for the feedback! Will definitely add a way to skip the transmissions. You're right that some weapons are harder to use as starter weapons, but considering how quickly you can add a second weapon I am hesitant to balance too much around that first level.

Also, the Sword keeps on generating to the right after you press right, but if you press left it stops generating after releasing the left arrow, so you have to keep pressing left.

An occasional health pickup would be nice.

Maybe some sort of countdown for the firing rate? It's ok without, but it makes it harder to assess when you will be firing.

When picking an upgrade all movement on the background should come to a full stop quickly. I like the delay effect, but I have the feeling stuff keeps moving, preventing you to react properly.

The boss feels a bit unfair, it's really hard to avoid the bullets and with the focus circle shot it's virtually impossible. Maybe after a few movement upgrades ...

Yeah I just reworked the sword recently and it's a little janky. Expect that to be fixed in the next build in a week or two

Another suggestion: I think allowing a little bit of vertical movement would be nice, it feels a bit too confined, especially when you maneuver yourself towards the side with no option to avoid bullets anymore.

Btw, what I mentioned earlier about the movement during upgrade, I was wrong. Things do stop moving. But because after picking upgrade it is really slow in starting up again, it's harder to avoid stuff that was coming your way already.
